My fail-safe, one-stop shop, bargain-filled favourite for workwear is Dorothy Perkins. If I want something new, I go there first.
Below, I will demonstrate reasons why.
I’m a girl who wears dresses. Mainly because I like them, but also because it removes the ‘does that top go with the skirt’ fear. It’s all in one. It works. Dorothy Perkins does dresses, but also does colour. Just look at how blue this dress is.
Dorothy Perkins doesn’t always do sensible, sometimes it does cute. But it knows that even when you want cute, you still want professionally appropriate. We can’t all wear tiny skirts. But we can wear dresses with hearts on.
And it has playful suits. Plain black suits remind me of school work experience where you decided you didn’t want that career and you definitely never wanted that suit on a day to day basis. Take a hint from Chanel in navy blue boucle. Add some texture.
Tops don’t have to be boring. Pink is pretty, lace is elegant. What more can you want?
Then there’s shoes. We are not all on The Apprentice so teetering around in 6 inch heels doesn’t happen when you’re trying to rush to the Tube to get to a meeting 5 minutes late because you got an urgent call as you were about to leave the office. Flats are your friend. And they can be stylish. These designs with metal plaques look far fancier than their £25 price tag.
