My trusty iPhone 5 has seen me through the past four years. It has been dropped multiple times. It may have once been fully submerged in the toilet. Yet is still keeps on chugging along (albeit slowly and with a tendency towards freezing and occasionally shutting itself off for no reason and sometimes making it look like it’s taken photos but when I try to look at them it’s nothing but a black screen).
It also doesn’t have the memory it once did. I’m often left with the choice of apps or photos? I love my photos. But I need some apps. I need Citymapper to know when the bus is coming. I need the O2 Priority app as how else will I get free Caffe Nero coffee on a Tuesday? So more often than not, it’s the photos that have to go.
Luckily, I have found a solution. The SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive is a little tiny lifesaver. For people like me who never have any space on their phone it is amazing. I got this last summer at the Scarlett London Bloggers Ball, and it has seen me through some difficult times. Especially the times when my phone refuses to connect to my laptop to download photos.
The drive is effectively a USB pen with an iPhone charger attachment on the end. There are drives available for other phones as well, if you’re one of those people who prefer Samsungs and the like.
It’s pretty much as easy as plugging it in for it to work, although you do need to download the app as well. Connect it to the phone, open the app, select the photos you want from the camera roll, and download to the drive. Then stick the USB end into your computer and upload them there. Obviously they can stay on the device for as long as you need, so it’s great if you’re on holiday and want to make some extra space for your snaps.
