Selfridges has always been my favourite department store since I made my first visit to the Trafford Centre branch about a decade ago. While some of the department stores in London feel like an odd museum or are just that little bit too clinical to be welcoming, Selfridges seems to get the balance right and has a huge mix of high end and high street.
The arrival of new the ITV1 programme Mr Selfridge has brought about a wave of new interest in the store and its eponymous owner who endeavoured to make the store feel luxurious and exclusive, but kept in mind that the customer was always right.
One of the great thing about the store is its distinctive branding. Nothing special or flashy, just a bright, bold, distinctive yellow. Pantone 109 yellow to be correct.
Selfridges has loads of products made exclusively for them in this colour – from eye-catching nail colours to the hilarious spork. So why not bring a little sunshine to your life? Mr Selfridge would be proud.
