Sometimes I get asked where the name for my blog comes from. It comes from a shop. A shop that was closed before I even knew it had existed.
The shop was near to where I used to live in Liverpool. I’ve been told it was a bakery run by two sisters.
The shop had closed but the sign remained. And it was awesome. Yellow tiles covered the block above the door and ran down the sides of the store front. And across the ties was the name, Kinsey’s, in the biggest black flowing letters you have ever seen. It was like a relic of the 1960s that had survived the onslaught of takeaways and hairdressers that run along the rest of the road.
I loved the design so much a adopted the tiles, colours and name for the blog.
Then the shop was sold. It’s awesome when shops that are vacant are bought, new businesses open, and people get the chance to create something new and bring some more new life to an area. But the sign was gone. And for all the chances I’d had, I’d never taken one good photo of it.
So here’s to Kinsey’s, another of life’s little memories.
